In 2003, Alfredo Brauzzi collected in a volume brief accounts of the seafaring life of almost all the 249 members of the "Sharks" course of the Naval Academy of Livorno.

In March 1943 they all entered service; in the tragic years that followed, 15 fell into war action; of these, 8 on the Rome of 14 embarked.

They were decorated with:

1 Silver Medal to the VM

2 Bronze Medals at MV

8 War Crosses at the VM

2 Solemn Commendations

This section contains the testimonies not only of those who were on Rome, but also of their companions embarked on that day on the other units of the FF.NN.BB. and who witnessed the sinking.
