"On the evening of the 8th, after the enactment of the telegraphic orders, it was still possible to explain the situation by telephone to the high naval commands located in La Spezia and Taranto, emphasizing above all that the loyal observance of the Armistice clauses was a factor important in the treatment that would have been imposed by the winners on our country.
